Reaching Pamukkale through Denizli

The terraces of Pamukkale lie north of the city of Denizli. The usual gateway is Denizli: by plane to Denizli-Çardak Airport, by long-distance bus to the Denizli bus terminal or by regional train. From the city, a minibus or taxi covers the last stretch to the village. The Hierapolis site sits about 18 km north of Denizli, according to the state museum administration.

This page gives published travel times and advertised prices from 2026. They are examples, not a timetable. Check the current schedule and fare before you go, because flight frequencies, bus fares and train times change.

Coming from Kuşadası or Selçuk? Many visitors combine Pamukkale with the ancient city of Ephesus.

Bus times and prices are the fastest trip and the lowest fare an operator advertises, not what every departure takes or costs. Istanbul has two airports, and they are not interchangeable: Turkish Airlines flies from Istanbul Airport (IST), Pegasus from Sabiha Gökçen (SAW). Check which one your ticket uses before you plan the transfer in Istanbul.

By plane to Denizli-Çardak

The airport is outside the city, so plan the transfer.

The shuttle

The airport authority points to the municipal service Hava Ulaşım, phone 0850 808 20 20. Do not search for a "HAVAŞ" timetable: that name appears in an older guide, but the airport authority names Hava Ulaşım. Check the current timetable and fare with the service.

The airport taxi

The airport lists a taxi service at 0258 851 22 30. Agree the price before you get in.

Distance and time

One airport guide from 2026 gives 63 to 65 km and about 1 hour to central Denizli, and about 74 km and 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes to Pamukkale. Those are planning values, not guaranteed transfer times.

By bus, train and minibus

Buses and trains end in the city, not at the terraces.

Denizli bus terminal

Long-distance buses arrive at Denizli Otogar, Topraklık Mahallesi, İzmir Bulvarı No. 41. That is in the city of Denizli, not at the entrance to the terraces.

Minibus to Pamukkale village

A transport guide from May 2026 lists minibuses from the Otogar to Pamukkale village in about 20 to 25 minutes, every 20 to 30 minutes during the day, for TRY 25 to 40. Treat those as orientation, not an official fare table. Before you plan a late return, check when the last minibus leaves Pamukkale.

The train

The state railway documents a regional route between Basmane in Izmir and Denizli. A schedule for one day does not tell you the times on yours, so look up the departure for your date.

Day trips from Kuşadası and Selçuk

Tour operators run group and private day trips from Kuşadası and Selçuk. One operator lists a group trip from Kuşadası at 10 hours from $109 per person in 2026. A private Pamukkale and Aphrodisias day is listed at 14 hours. Prices on listings move with the date. Some listings say entry is included, others say it is not, and one offer says both, so read the inclusions line by line.

Arriving at the terraces

Three ways in, one ticket price.

The site has a south gate, a north gate and a pedestrian entrance from the village. Entry is €30 for foreign visitors in 2026 on the central price list, and prices in Türkiye are often adjusted. Private cars are not allowed inside the site, although you can drive to the outer parking areas. The Pamukkale page lists the hours and the barefoot rule.

If you stay in the village or in Karahayit, your hotel can tell you which gate suits your plans. If you arrive in Denizli and sleep there, plan the minibus into your day.
